Following this trend, estimation could be made regarding the overall CAT 2018 Expected Cutoff for admission in the upcoming session. IIM Ahmedabad has set up a cut off of 80 percentile or more in CAT 2018 Examination for engineering students as well as for non-engineering ones who intend to seek admission in 2019- 2021 session. Every year IIM is revising their admission criteria to attract more students from different backgrounds. Their admission process involves two steps – where more importance is given on CAT examination score during preliminary screening and during final screening, 50% weight was given to Personal Interview, 10% on Academic Writing Test and 40% on CAT 2018 examination score as well as overall academics.
For the upcoming admission in 2019-2021 Session, IIM Bangalore has set up a minimum cut off of 90 percentile score in CAT 2018 Examination where they are needed to score a minimum of 85 percentile in ‘Verbal and Reading Comprehension’ (VARC) section, 80 percentile in ‘Quantitative Aptitude’ (QA) and ‘Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning’ (DILR) section. The admission procedure involves two steps. The criteria for short-listing a candidate for Personal Interview (PI) – Written Admission Test (WAT) round is divided into two segments by giving 40% weight on CAT 2018 Examination score and 50% on the academic profile. On the other hand, 25% weight is given on CAT examination score 2018 for final admission.
IIM Calcutta has set up an overall cut off 90 percentile in CAT 2018 Examination with a minimum of 80 percentile in each section for admission in 2019-2021 Session. At the same time, by giving 56% weight on CAT score and 40% on the academic profile, IIM Calcutta is focused on getting students from different backgrounds.
The cut off for admission in IIM Lucknow for 2019-20121 Session is 90 percentile score in CAT 2018 Examination. Bonus points will be given on academic profile, work experience during different stages of the admission process.
IIM Indore has set up a cut off of 90 percentile for their admission in 2019-2021 Batch. However, they will award 20% weight on CAT score and 76% on secondary and higher secondary marks for the admission process. As a result, they are expected to lead among the IIMs to attract students with brilliant academic profile below graduation than focusing on CAT score.
As one of the top six IIMs, IIM Kozhikode has set up an overall cut off of 90 percentile in CAT 2018 examination score with a sectional percentile of 80 in all three sections. During different stages of the admission process, CAT score along with different parameters will be given due importance. However, for final selection, a maximum of about 75% weight will be given to CAT score with about 20% weight on Higher Secondary marks and 5% to diversity.
MBA Colleges with 90 Percentile and Above Cut-Off Marks
1) Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi – Their cut off is 98 percentile in CAT 2018 examination and candidates are required to apply separately for admission process. Apart from CAT score – both overall and sectional percentile, performance in PI, Extempore and Group Discussion (GD) round is also considered for final selection.
2) SP Jain Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai – Cut off is 90 percentile score in CAT 2018 and candidate has to apply separately for admission process
3) Management Development Institute, Gurgaon – Cut off marks is 94 percentile in CAT 2018
4) Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad – Cut off marks is 90 percentile in CAT 2018
5) Xavier University, Bhubaneswar – Cut off marks is 92 percentile in CAT 2018
6) Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai – Cut off marks is 96 percentile in CAT 2018
There are other Management Schools who have lowered the cut off marks to 80 percentile while many others have reduced the same to as low as 60 percentile. However, as per the trend in top IIMs and MBA Schools, the expected cut off for students appearing for CAT 2018 and seeking admission for 2019-2021 session will remain on an average of 90 percentile.
