A local cable television channel in Madurai has aired superstar Rajinikanth’s film Darbar. Soon after this came to light, Rajini fans and Lyca Productions have approached the police.
A channel named Saranya Cable TV Network in Madurai allegedly telecasted the movie on January 12, 2020. To counter the activities of the cable TV, Lyca, which produced Darbar, has stepped into action.
Lyca said in a statement, “While the movie has been receiving good response and running successfully in all the centres, we are astounded and distressed to know that the movie was telecast illegally in a local television channel (based in Madurai) on January 12 evening.”
It said further: “We, as the producer of the film are saddened by these kinds of acts and request the authorities to take necessary action against these culprits.” The company has filed a complaint with the Madurai police commissioner’s office, it added.
Severe action has been sought by Lyca and Rajinikanth fans on the accused who not only dented the collection of Darbar but also brought severe damage to the Tamil film industry.
In a tweet, publicist Riaz Ahmed said, “#Darbar @LycaProductions files complaint against the @rajinikanth film being aired on Cable TV in #Madurai @rajinikanth @ARMurugadoss @anirudhofficial @santoshsivan @sreekar_prasad @SunielVShetty @divomovies @RelianceEnt @idiamondbabu @V4umedia_”
Directed by A R Murugadoss, Darbar has the cast of Rajinikanth, Nayanthara, Nivetha Thomas, Sunil Shetty and Yogi Babu. Anirudh Ravichander has scored the music with Santhosh Shivan taking care of the cinematography.
