Buy island like Nithyananda and become CM: Jayakumar tells Stalin

Tamil Nadu Fisheries Minister and senior AIADMK leader D Jayakumar today said those who want to become Chief Minister can buy an island like self-styled godman Nithyananda and take charge as its CM.

He was hitting out at DMK president M K Stalin during an interaction with reporters in Chennai today. “DMK is a party with confusions. Its chief Stalin is confused. The reason behind his confusion is his desire to become CM,” he said.

Meanwhile, Stalin has expressed displeasure over the unholy nexus between many DMK functionaries and state ministers. Speaking at the party’s district secretaries meeting, Stalin said he was not bothered much about what had happened in the past.

“But if any functionary continued to betray the interests of the DMK, they would have to face tough action,” he said. Stalin has criticised Tamil Nadu government over increasing onion prices and alleged that the state government has not taken any proactive measures to help the common man.

Stalin in a statement warned the AIADMK government that increasing onion prices could lead to a government change.

Quoting examples of states like West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Telangana where onion is sold at Rs 40 per kg, Stalin said that Tamil Nadu government has not made any such effort.
