Ajitha, mother of actress Reshmi Menon and mother-in-law of Bobby Simha, passed away today. She was suffering from cancer and lost the battle today, sources said.
It is to be noted that Reshmi Menon and Bobby Simha entered wedlock only recently. Many personalities of the film industry have condoled the death of Ajitha.
Bobby-Reshmi’s wedding in Tirupati this April was attended by the families of the bride and groom, besides some close friends.
The couple fell in love on the sets of last year Tamil film Urumeen. Bobby made his acting debut with 2012 Tamil film Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi, won the National Award for his performance in the critically acclaimed 2014 film Jigarthanda. Reshmi has starred in Tamil films such as Burma, Maya and Kirumi.
Reshmi Menon was pursuing Visual Communication at Women’s Christian College, Chennai, a course she enrolled for because she “loved the media”.
She accompanied her friend to the auditions for the Prakash Raj production, Inidhu Inidhu (2010), when she herself got the opportunity to essay a lead role in it. Accepting the offer, she shot for the film while still studying, revealing that she had to skip classes at WCC to work in the film.
Reshmi was one of several newcomers to make their acting debuts in Inidhu Inidhu. A remake of the Telugu film Happy Days, it had her reprising the role originally played by Tamannaah and critics were divided on her performance.
