BJP steps up preparations for 2027 Assembly elections in 7 states
BJP president Nitin Nabin has convened a meeting of senior party functionaries to discuss organisational priorities and preparations for the assembly elections scheduled across seven states next year.
The meeting in New Delhi brought together newly appointed national office-bearers, state BJP presidents, state in-charges and other senior leaders. BJP national general secretary (organisation) BL Santhosh also attended.
A key focus was reportedly the strengthening of the party’s grassroots network and improving its engagement with younger voters in states that will go to the polls in 2027.
Elections are scheduled in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat. The BJP currently governs five of those states, while Punjab is ruled by the Aam Aadmi Party and Himachal Pradesh by the Congress.
The meeting was held a day after Nabin met the newly appointed members of the BJP’s national team. Former national office-bearers also participated in that discussion.
Nabin later said on X that the meeting had involved detailed discussions on organisational matters with national office-bearers, state presidents and state organisation general secretaries.
Party sources described the latest meeting as an important step towards developing the BJP’s electoral strategy for the seven states. Strengthening local-level organisation, expanding youth outreach and preparing the party machinery well ahead of the elections are expected to remain key priorities.
