Biriyani attack: Stalin visits restaurant, meets injured staff

DMK Working President MK Stalin today visited a restaurant at Virugambakkam in Chennai where his party workers assaulted the employees after they were refused free food.

Accompanied by party seniors including A Raja and M Subramanian, Stalin expressed regret to the staff members injured during the attack by a gang of DMK members 29 July.

RR Biriyani owner Tamilselvan said, “The DMK called us to Arivalayam, and checked up on the injured, the shop, and enquired about what had taken place. Stalin then asked us where the shop was, as he wanted to pay a visit.

I initially refused as his father is unwell and a lot of important people were visiting the hospital. But, he came with us to the shop, sat inside, checked the damages, spoke to the employees and assured us help from the party’s side.”

DMK on Wednesday suspended student leaders Yuvaraj and Diwakar from the party, a day after they along with a few others thrashed the hotel’s staffers.

A statement released by DMK general secretary Anbazhagan said: “The party has decided to suspend the two of them from primary membership of the party.

Stalin too strongly condemned the behaviour of the two DMK cadre who attacked hotel staff for not serving them biryani.
