Bhagyaraj files nomination for Nadigar Sangam polls

‘Swami Sankardas Ani’ members led by actor and filmmaker K Bhagyaraj filed their nominations on Sunday to contest in the Nadigar Sangam elections to be held on June 23.

A new team led by Bhagyaraj has emerged as the opposition to the incumbent Pandavar Ani of Vishal, Nassar, Karthi, Karunaas and Poochi Murugan. Now, it’s known that the new team has been named Swami Sankaradas Ani after the famous Tamil writer, actor, and playwright.

With the contestants of all other positions already announced, it was widely speculated that Jayam Ravi would be named as the candidate for the treasurer post from the Bhagyaraj-led group. But now, it has been revealed that Prashanth will be contesting for this position.

During the last elections, the Pandavar Ani which comprised Vishal, Nasser, Karthi, Ponvannan and Karunas contested the elections and emerged victorious. The team had promised a state-of-the-art structure that will provide artistes space to perform and a marriage hall along with many others, but is yet to be completed.

Actor Prashant will be contesting against actor Karthi for the post of treasurer. A few members from the Pandavar Ani have joined the Sankardas Ani this year, to contest as well as lend support to the faction.

The Nadigar Sangam elections is all set to be held on June 23 under the supervision of retired Judge Padhmanaban. The venue chosen for the elections is MGR Janaki college in Chennai. Members of Nadigar Sangam can register their votes from morning 7 AM to evening 5 PM at the venue.
