Bengaluru attack: Shraddha Srinath strongly supports Samyuktha Hegde

Actress Samyuktha Hegde of Jayam Ravi starrer Comali fame and two friends had gone to a park next to the Agara Lake in HSR Layout in Bengaluru on Friday evening to exercise and practice with their hula hoops.

But the outing soon turned into a nightmare, and the actress had alleged that she was heckled by a group of people led by AICC member Kavitha Reddy for wearing a sports bra in a public place.

Coming to Samyuktha’s support, actress and lawyer Shraddha Srinath of Vikram Vedha and Nerkonda Paarvai fame has said Samyuktha has done the right thing by fighting against the people who attacked her.

“Assault, slander, wrongful confinement. As an ex lawyer I can already think of three charges @samyuktha_hegde can charge this lady and the mob of men who ganged up against her for (correct me if I am wrong).

You tell me. Is it an equal world for women? A man can run around shirtless or in a vest and nobody will bat an eyelid but a girl wearing a sports bra for a brief moment will be hit, accused of public indecency, dragged into a whole different scandal, taken to the police station and be traumatized. It’s a SHAME. It’s fucking shame. Samyukta is a strong girl. She handled this immensely well. Thank you for fighting for us Sam.

People of our generation will have heard this a lot. “Did you see how she was dressed?” “She was asking for it.” And so by this logic, a girl wearing a sports bra is fully deserving of being brutally sexually assaulted, and if something happens to her, she has no right to complain (or come crying, because that’s what girls do best right?)”, Shraddha said.
