Bala is known to have helmed movies such as Tharai Thappattai, Naan Kadavul and Avan Ivan. The director is popularly known to have brought a revolution in the Kollywood industry by his depiction of shocking and life-like storylines in his movies.
His upcoming flick Naachiyaar is aiming for a grand theatrical release on February 9. The shoot of the film got wrapped up long back and the team will soon apply for the censor.
Jyothika plays a cop in the film which deals about a hard hitting crime drama based on real life incidents. GV Prakash Kumar’s look and performance in the teaser received good response.
Featuring music composed by Ilaiyaraaja and cinematography by Eashwar, the film began production during March 2017.
In February 2017, Bala confirmed that his next project would be a crime thriller starring Jyothika in the lead role, and chose to postpone the shoot of his untitled film featuring Yuvan and Pragathi Guruprasad.
Film producer Rockline Venkatesh also joined the cast to play a supporting role, after Bala spontaneously enquired about his interest in working as an actor.
Prior to release, the media reported that the story was based on the life of psycho killer Jayaprakash, who killed nine of his relatives in the 1980s at Valasaravakkam, Chennai.
