There were reports last month that producer Kathiresan’s Five Star Creations has bought the remake rights of hit Malayalam film, Ayyappanum Koshiyum, and actor Sasikumar has been roped in to play one of the leads.
Much recently, the internet is abuzz with speculations that the makers have signed actor Arya to play Prithviraj’s character in the Tamil version of the film.
However, Arya, denied the reports as rumours. “I am not a part of Ayyappanum Koshiyum Tamil remake,” he said.
Meanwhile, actor-producer John Abraham’s banner JA Entertainment has acquired the Hindi remake rights of Malayalam action thriller Ayyappanum Koshiyum, the makers announced on Tuesday.
Directed by Sachy and starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Biju Menon, the film released earlier this year and was a huge box office success.
“Ayyappanum Koshiyum is an entertaining film that strikes a perfect balance between action, thrill and a good story. At JA Entertainment we are keen to bring such appealing stories to our audience,” said the actor.
The Malayalam film directed by Sachy and produced by Ranjith and PM Sasidharan had Prithviraj playing Koshy Kurien – an influential plantation owner and ex Havildar and Biju Menon playing Ayyappan Nair – a sub inspector posted in Attappadi in Palakkad.
The story revolves around a conflict that rises due to the clash of their egos. The film also had director Ranjith in an important role, with Gowri Nandha and Anna Reshma Rajan played the female leads.
John, who has been producing films under his banner JA Entertainment since 2012, took to Twitter to make the announcement. The Batla House star said he was impressed by the perfect balance of action, thrill and a good story in Ayyappanum Koshiyum.
“At JA Entertainment we are keen to bring such appealing stories to our audience..we hope to make a truly engaging film with this remake in Hindi. Really Excited !!!” John Abraham tweeted.
In a statement, he said, “Ayyappanum Koshiyum is an entertaining film that strikes a perfect balance between action, thrill and a good story. This film also fits right into our future plans as we believe that the Hindi film industry will bounce back with efficient and entertaining projects soon after the Covid19 crisis.”
