The latest buzz in Kollywood is that the team of Simbu aka STR starrer Maanadu has approached Arvind Swamy to play the antagonist in the film which will be directed by Venkat Prabhu.
Earlier, Arvind Swamy and STR have acted together in Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam. Earlier there were reports that Kannada star Kichcha Sudeep has been approached to play the film’s villain but the actor had denied it.
If the industry grapevine is anything to go by, the Thani Oruvan and Kadal actor has been approached to play the antagonist in Simbu-Venkat Prabhu’s Maanaadu, which is expected to go on the floors later this month.
Meanwhile, Arvind Swami is playing the role of former Tamil Nadu CM and legendary actor MGR in Thalaivi, directed by AL Vijay and starring Kangana Ranaut in the titular role. MGR played an important role in the political career of Jayalalithaa.
Maanadu’s shooting was supposed to begin sometime last year, but producer Suresh revealed that he’s dropping Simbu from the film because of non-cooperation. However, Simbu and Suresh sorted out the issues in front of the Producers’ Council members.
Since Simbu allegedly failed to turn up to the film’s shoot, the producer convened a meeting with the Producers’ Council in the presence of the actor’s mother Usha Rajender. She assured that she’d take the responsibility of sending his son to the film’s shoot without fail.
