Arun Jaitley passes away, condolences pour in

Senior BJP leader former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s health deteriorated and he passed away this morning at AIIMS in the national capital.

AIIMS hospital issued a statement on Arun Jaitley’s death. As per the statement, “It is with profound grief that we inform about the sad demise of Shri Arun Jaitley, Hon’ble Member of Parliament and former Finance Minister Government of India at 12:07 pm on August 24, 2019. Arun Jaitley was admitted in AIIMS, New Delhi on 09/08/2019 and was treated by a multidisciplinary team of senior Doctors.”

Jaitley was rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi on August 9 after he complained of breathlessness and restlessness.

Jaitley, a lawyer by profession, had been an important part in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Cabinet in the BJP government’s first term. He held the finance and defence portfolios, and often acted as the chief troubleshooter of the government.

He had been declared haemodynamically stable. A hemodynamically stable patient has a stable heart pump and good blood circulation. The authorities at AIIMS did not issue any bulletin on Jaitley’s health condition since August 9.

Home Minister Amit Shah dubbed Arun Jaitley’s demise “personal loss”. Shah has also cut short his Hyderabad trip over the passing away of the former Finance Minister of India.

Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda said, “It is shocking to learn about the sad demise of one of the tallest leaders of our country @arunjaitley, the former Union Minister who had held the portfolios of Finance, Defence, Corporate Affairs,Commerce and Industry and Law and Justice. A great loss to our Nation.#ArunJaitley.”
