Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam legislator Neelamegam, who represents Thanjavur constituency in Tamil Nadu Assembly, has tested positive for Covid-19.
The 51-year-old, after symptoms, got tested for coronavirus infection and the results came positive, sources said. Following this, he has been admitted to the Covid-19 ward of Thanjavur Medical College Hospital.
Only a couple of days ago, actor Karunas, who is also a MLA,tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The actor is now quarantined at his residence in Dindigul district in Tamil Nadu.
According to reports, Karunas is stable and has been requested to take prescribed medicines and isolate himself at home. A few days ago, the watchman guarding his house fell sick.
Advising people not to ignore feverish feelings but seek early medical help, State Health Minister C Vijaybaskar said the government had improved the facilities for treatment in the government hospitals in Chennai.
After inspecting the facilities at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital and the Kilpauk Medical College Hospital, Vijaybaskar said there were 150 ICU beds in RGGGH, from where over 15,000 persons had been discharged following successful treatment.
