Anirudh doubted ‘Aaluma Doluma’ before its shoot
Music composer Anirudh Ravichander has revealed that he initially had serious doubts about “Aaluma Doluma”, the energetic song from Ajith Kumar’s Vedalam.
During a recent conversation with Billboard India, Anirudh was asked whether he had ever felt that one of his songs was not good enough. He said there were several such instances and singled out “Aaluma Doluma” as one example.
According to the composer, he was unconvinced that the song would connect with listeners and even contacted director Siva shortly before filming was scheduled to begin. Anirudh said he suggested postponing the shoot because he feared Ajith’s fans might not respond positively to the track.
The director nevertheless went ahead with the shoot. Anirudh later learned that the team, including Ajith and the film’s producer, was enthusiastic about the song. That initially increased the composer’s anxiety about the track’s prospects.
His concerns ultimately proved unfounded. “Aaluma Doluma” became one of the most recognisable songs associated with Vedalam, gaining a huge following and becoming a regular choice at celebrations and public events.
The high-energy kuththu number has also accumulated more than 148 million views on YouTube, making it one of the most-watched Tamil songs on the platform and the most-viewed song from Ajith’s filmography on the cited list.
