“Andhagan” Movie Review
“Andhagan” follows Krishna (Prashanth), a talented pianist who pretends to be blind to advance his career. His charade leads to a chance encounter with Julie (Priya Anand), who offers him a job at her restaurant-bar, sparking a sweet romance. The story takes a thrilling turn when Krishna is invited by actor Karthik (Karthik) to perform at his wedding anniversary. What begins as a seemingly ordinary performance quickly escalates when Krishna unwittingly witnesses Karthik’s murder at the hands of Simy (Simran), Karthik’s second wife, and her lover, Kani (Samuthirakani), who is also a police inspector. Krishna’s decision to maintain his fake blindness adds layers of tension as he navigates the dangerous situation.
Director Thiagarajan skillfully blends suspense and comedy, creating a gripping narrative that keeps viewers on edge. The film’s atmosphere is enhanced by clever cinematography that plays with the audience’s perception, particularly in scenes where Krishna’s blindness is questioned. The sound design is equally impressive, with the music perfectly complementing the unfolding drama. Songs are strategically placed to heighten the tension or provide comic relief, adding depth to the storytelling.
Prashanth delivers a standout performance as Krishna, convincingly portraying the complexities of a man trapped in his own deception. His ability to convey fear, determination, and wit, all while pretending to be blind, is commendable. Simran shines as the cunning femme fatale, bringing both elegance and menace to her role. Yogi Babu and Urvashi offer much-needed comic relief, their timing and chemistry adding a lighter touch to the suspenseful plot. The supporting cast, including Priya Anand, Samuthirakani, and KS Ravikumar, contribute strong performances, while Karthik adds flair in his brief yet impactful role.Mano Bala’s timing as a cop adds a touch of humor, lightening the tension in the narrative.
Santhosh Narayanan’s eclectic music score perfectly underscores the film’s tone, making “Andhagan” a thrilling and entertaining ride. The blend of suspense, humor, and strong performances ensures that the audience remains engaged from start to finish.
