Amitabh Bachchan and Abishek Bachchan are in talks to adapt Tamil Nadu based veteran social activist Palam Kalyanasundaram’s story in Bollywood.
While Amitabh would play the present Kalyanasundaram, Abishek will play the younger portions. According to reports, producer Baran Adarsh came to Chennai and sought the permission of Palam Kalyanasundaram.
A US based organization had recognized him as the Man of the millenium and Superstar Rajinikanth had adopted him as his father.
Rajinikanth was so moved by Kalyanasundaram’s passion to help the needy that he had ‘adopted’ him as his father in 2012. Now the buzz is that since Kalyanasundaram stayed in Rajini’s house at Poes Garden for a while after Superstar adopted him, parts of the film may be shot at Rajini’s house.
Palam Kalyanasundaram is a retired librarian. A recipient of the Best Librarian in India Award, Cambridge honored him as one of the ‘noblest men of the world’ and the United Nations recognized him as one of the most outstanding people of the 20th century.
This man of no possession has, however, given away all his award money, salary, and pension for charity. The amount he has given away over the past four decades for the cause of humanity sums up to Rs 30 crore.
A will to serve humanity has been Kalyanasundaram’s guiding principle throughout his life. A gold medalist in library science, he also holds a masters degree in literature and history. During his 35-year-long career at Kumarkurupara Arts College at Srivaikuntam, he diligently and willingly donated his salary month after month towards charity and did odd jobs to meet his daily needs.
