BJP president Amit Shah and senior leader Arun Jaitley were set to visit Apollo Hospitals where Chief Minister Jayalalithaa is undergoing treatment.
“Hon’ble BJP National president AmitShah Avl honb Union minister Arun jaitley Avl to call on Hon’ble TN CM in Apollo Hospital around 5pm tomorrow,” BJP state unit president Tamilisai Sounderrajan said on her Twitter page on Tuesday.
Quoting sources at the Chennai airport, reports said the two leaders were likely to arrive from Delhi, proceed to Apollo hospital and return the same day.
Meanwhile, reacting to opposition parties’ comments on Jayalalithaa’s health status, Union minister of state for road transport, highways and shipping Pon Radhakrishnan, said some even went to the extent of accusing the Centre of “spying” on the CM by deputing doctors from the AIIMS.
“This is absurd. They should desist from making such unsavoury and objectionable comments,” he said.
Jayalalithaa, 68, was admitted to the hospital on 22 September after she complained of fever and dehydration.
A stream of high-profile visitors, including Governors of Tamil Nadu and Kerala Chennamaneni Vidyasagar Rao and P Sathasivam, Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and Chief Ministers of Kerala and Puducherry Pinarayi Vijayan and V Narayanasamy have visited the hospital.
