Amid violence at AIADMK office, HC grants permission to hold general body meeting

Madras high court has refused to stall general council meeting of AIADMK.  Justice Krishnan Ramasamy granted permission to convene today’s meeting and said that the majority of AIADMK members are in favour of conducting the GC meeting and allow the same. The judge also dismissed the suit of O Panneerselvam .

Earlier in the day, OPS supporters broke open the locked door of the headquarters building, making way for the entry their leader, who for now has given a skip for the general council meeting and has chosen to be at the party headquarters.

Following the incident, former AIADMK Minister Munusamy said,” OPS and his supporters were informed regarding the general council meeting appropriately and given due respect, he has resorted to violence. This shows his desparation. For his personal interest and political gain, OPS is trying to destroy the party and bring harm to the cadres. The party will take stern action.”

Tension prevailed outside the AIADMK office at Royapettah as stone pelting incident leaves several party workers injured.

Supporters of EPS and OPS hurled stone at each other and damage vehicles parked outside party office.

Traffic police warned of slow traffic movement in and around the Vanagaram area. In an official release, police said, “Traffic is likely to be slow between Poonamalee and Koyambedu between 6 am and 4 pm. Motorists are requested to take note and plan their travel accordingly.” During the AIADMK meeting held on July 23, the city witnessed huge traffic jam as there was no proper parking space for the vehicles .
