Amid Maanadu delay, Venkat Prabhu to team up with Lawrence

With his Maanaadu, with STR in the lead role, getting delayed, director Venkat Prabhu has met Raghava Lawrence and discussed a project with the actor-director.

The Mankatha and Goa director was quoted as saying: “Yes, we have locked a script. As of now, all I can tell you is that it will be a different film for both Lawrence and me.”

According to reports, Lawrence is planning to do more heroic films in the coming days so he has decided to put his directorial projects on hold. It is said that Lawrence has even asked Gautham Menon for a possible script.

“God is kind…Nalladhey ninaipom Nalladhey pesuvom Nalladhey nadakkum And so this happened!! Thank q @offl_Lawrence brother!!! Updates soon”, Venkat Prabhu tweeted.

The director told TOI: “We have been talking about doing a project for a while though we couldn’t zero in on the right script. Eventually, I worked on an idea and Lawrence liked it. I wanted to show him in a different light, in a way that audiences have not seen him before. All I can say for now is that it will be an out-and-out entertainer… a new genre for me, too.”

Earlier this year, Simbu was dropped from Venkat Prabhu’s Maanadu after he had allegedly been the cause for the numerous delays in starting the movie. However recently, it was speculated that he would be back in the project.
