Amid heavy rain forecast, orange alert in Mumbai till July 9

With the forecast of heavy rainfall in Mumbai and adjoining areas for the upcoming days, incessant rainfall lashed the city on Wednesday morning with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing an orange alert till July 9.

A red alert was sounded for neighbouring districts, including Raigadh and Ratnagiri.

Severe waterlogging was reported in several parts of the city, including Bandra and Sion, which irked the commuters.

On Tuesday, Sion, Mulund, Chembur, Andheri East, Patanwadi in Malad East, and Kandivali witnessed flooding after the rainfall, bringing life to a standstill. Mumbaikars struggled their way through knee-deep water as the deluge led to waterlogging in low-lying areas and affected vehicular movement on major roads.
