All eyes are on Deputy Chief Minister and AIADMK coordinator O Panneerselvam as the party’s executive committee meeting is being held in Chennai today.
Quoting sources, reports said Panneerselvam who has been passive so far could prove his control over the party during the meet.
“Panneerselvam’s supporters are also expecting their leader to speak about the steering committee which was promised when the warring faction merged last year on 20 August,” they added.
Party Coordinator O Panneerselvam and Joint Coordinator K Palaniswami said in a statement recently that the meeting will be held under the leadership of AIADMK presidium chairman E Madhusudhanan.
The meeting, the second one after the factions led by the two leaders merged last year, will be held at the party headquarters at 4 PM, they said.
The previous executive committee meeting, held along with the general council on September 12, 2017, had then sacked its jailed leader VK Sasikala as the interim general secretary, asserting the supremacy of Chief Minister Palaniswami and his deputy Panneerselvam in the ruling party.
