All efforts will be taken to rescue fishermen from Pakistan, EAM assures CM Stalin
Union Minister for External Affairs Dr S Jaishankar informed Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin that the Indian High Commission in Islamabad is making efforts to ensure the release of 14 fishermen from Tamil Nadu detained by Pakistan on January 3 this year.
In a letter shared by the Tamil Nadu government, Jaishankar confirmed that Pakistan has yet to grant the requested access.
“The High Commission will keep following up and make all necessary efforts for their early release and return,” he added.
The detained fishermen, along with their boats Shri Vraj Bhumi and Mandeep, were taken into custody by Pakistani authorities on January 3.
