A 23-year-old employee of an IT company in Chennai was one of the four persons picked up by the National Investigation Agency in Tamil Nadu on Monday.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday arrested four suspected Al Qaeda activists – three from Madurai and one from Chennai.
Police alleged that the four suspects had plans to attack Prime Minister Narendra Modi and 21 other leaders.
They allegedly carried out explosions at five judicial courts at Chittoor, Kollam, Mysuru, Nellore and Mallapuram.
“Peculiarly, the responsibility of the blasts was claimed by an organization called The Base Movement in its propaganda material circulated through pen drives and pamphlets, left behind at the crime scenes of the blasts on Nellore and Malappuram Court premises,” an NIA statement said.
The accused were identified as Abbas Ali (27), Suleiman (23), Samsum Karim Raja and Dawood Sulaiman.
