Ajith, who was shooting in Bulgaria for his 57th film, rushed to Chennai to pay tributes to late chief minister and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa, who passed away on Monday night.
Along with his wife Shalini, Ajith went to the place near MGR memorial where Jayalalithaa was buried on Tuesday evening and offered his respects, sources said.
He issued a statement on Monday from Bulgaria, in which he said, “She had fought many battles and stood tall among the leaders of our times.”
He added: “I pray to the Almighty to give us the strength during this time of grief.” Meanwhile, Superstar Rajinikanth and others too paid tributes to Jaya.
Rajinikanth posted on Twitter: “It is not just Tamil Nadu, but the whole of India that has lost its brave daughter. I pray to the Almighty for her soul to rest in peace”.
Trisha said: “RIP my most favourite person. The throne awaits you on the other side. Truly proud and honoured to have met you.”
