Five fans were injured when a cutout of actor Ajith fell at a theatre in Thirukovilur, Villupuram district.
All five of them have been admitted to hospital with serious injuries. The cutout fell when fans climbed on to it to do milk abhishekam.
As Rajinikanth’s Petta and Ajith’s Viswasam hit the screens on Thursday, in time for the Pongal festival, fans of both stars are in a frenzy, to the extent that a several other mishaps, too, have occurred during the fanfare across the state.
Ajith was the first Tamil actor to disband his fan clubs, yet his followers continue to show their love for him in whatever way possible. This year, one of the fan clubs in Tamil Nadu had put up an LED cut-out, which is said to be a first of its kind.
Ajithkumar, son of Pandiyan from Katpadi in Vellore district, was a die-hard fan of actor Ajith. He insisted his father to give him money to watch the first day fisst show of Viswasam.
When he refused, Ajithkumar poured petrol on Pandiyan while he was asleep and set him on fire. Hearing the screams of Pandiyan, his neighbours rescued him and admitted him to a hospital.
Viswasam, directed by Siruthai Siva, stars Ajith, Nayanthara and Baby Anikha in important roles. The film has been receiving positive responses from the critics and audience, who have watched the early morning shows.
