Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has officially confirmed that she will be a part of Mani Ratnam’s upcoming film, which is said to be inspired by Kalki’s legendary novel Ponniyin Selvan.
“Though Mani hasn’t officially confirmed yet, the word is out so yes I’m working with him. I’m more than thrilled, excited, and overwhelmed to work with my guru,” she said in her recent interview with Film Companion.
It is learnt that Aishwarya will be seen playing a dual role in the film which is expected to go on floors in 2020. Mani is in talks with Jio Studios to bankroll the film which will also have Vikram, ‘Jayam’ Ravi, Karthi, Amala Paul, and Sathyaraj in pivotal characters.
In an interaction after walking the red carpet at the Cannes 2019, she said that even though Mani Ratnam hasn’t formally announced it himself but the word is out.
Aishwarya committed to the fact that she is working with him. She added that she will always be more than thrilled, excited, overwhelmed, humbled and just happy to work with her guru, Mani.
According to reports, the story of the film takes place in the 10th century before Raja Chola became a king. Aishwarya will be seen as Nandini, the wife of Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar, who served as the chancellor and treasurer of the Chola kingdom
