Revolting against the dual leadership structure in the AIADMK, senior leader Rajan Chellappa today said the issue would be raised in the general council of the party.
“Because of dual leadership, there are some confusions. If there is a firm and single leadership like Jayalalithaa, we would have won more seats,” he said.
Soon after his words, reporters wanted to know the comments of Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Deputy CM O Panneerselvam, the joint coordinator and coordinator of the party.
While Panneerselvam said he would look into Rajan Chellappa’s comments and then react, Palaniswami too said the same. The CM however said, “everyone is leader in the AIADMK. This is a party of cadres.”
He further said that the AIADMK remains strong and it is all geared up to face the local body elections. Recently, the CM denied any friction in the party’s alliance with the BJP.
Also, AIADMK mouthpiece Namathu Amma had alleged that efforts were being made to create a rift in the party’s alliance with the BJP, but indicated the two parties were ideologically inclined beyond mere friendship.
“Though the AIADMK-BJP alliance for the Lok Sabha polls was an extension of friendship, the two speak in one voice on primary intent like patriotism and worship of God,” it said.
Hitting out at efforts by a section of ‘family-owned media’ to ‘create rift between the leaf and flower’, it said the friendship between the high command of the two parties, beyond politics, was ‘unblemished’.
