AIADMK presidium chairman E Madhusudhanan has called off in the last minute a media meet cnvened at his residence noontime Tuesday, which he was expected to trigger a bombshell.
He called for the press meet amid reports that his longtime rival in the ruling party and fisheries minister D Jayakumar has rocked his boat a bit too hard in the just-concluded cooperatives elections in their high-voltage north Chennai turf.
Madhusudhanan had earlier accused Jayakumar of causing his defeat in the RK Nagar by-election. Following Madhusudhanan’s announcement for a press meet, deputy chief minister and party coordinator Panneerselvam held talks with him and pacified him.
And on Tuesday morning, Madhusudhanan was invited by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami to his residence where the peace pipe was finally smoked by the warring leaders. Following this, Madhusudhanan called off his press meet.
Reports said Madhusudhanan had been strongly feeling ignored by the leaders of the AIADMK despite holding the post of praesidium chairman.
He was earlier quoted as saying by Deccan Chronicle: “There is too much of sarvaadhikaram (dictatorship) seen in the party now. I have complained about this to OPS.”
