AIADMK high command will decide on joining BJP government: Jayakumar

Senior Minister and AIADMK leader D Jayakumar has said his party’s high command will decide on the issue of joining the next NDA government at the Centre as and when it is formed.

In an interview, he said the AIADMK government had from time to time been urging the Union government to provide more funds or clear more projects for Tamilnadu. We felt that if we had an alliance with the ruling party at the Centre, the BJP, it will help the State government secure more projects from the Union government, he said.

Meanwhile, speaking to reporters at the launch of a book titled Puratchi Thalaivar MGR Marupiravi Edutha Varalaru, Jayakumar criticised DMK president M K Stalin’s comment in an election campaign that DMK would probe the death of Jayalalithaa.

Jayakumar said it was a good joke. The book was authored by former Minister H V Hande on the life of AIADMK founder and former Chief Minister M G Ramachandran.

While BJP leader L Ganesan released the English book, Jayakumar released the Tamil one. There are many actors among humans. But, if there was one human amongst actors, it is Puratchi Thalaivar MGR, said Hande.

Jayakumar announced that he will buy Rs one lakh worth of the books that is equal to his one month Minister salary. In the book, Dr Hande has recalled personal and memorable accounts from his association with former Tamilnadu Chief Minister and AIADMK founder M G Ramachandran.

It is to be noted that DR Hande was made the Health Minister of the State by MGR himself in 1977. Dr Hande accompanied MGR to Brooklyn Hospital when he was seriously ill and played a critical role in the treatment provided for the legendary actor-politician.
