All the executive and general council members were asked to attend the meeting with a COVID-19 certificate that they have tested negative, by wearing face masks and following physical distancing norms.

In another statement, the AIADMK said both Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam who are also AIADMK’s joint coordinator and coordinator respectively would kickstart the party’s campaign for the Assembly elections by addressing a rally at YMCA grounds in the city on December 27 to ensure that the party record a hat-trick of wins and retain power.

Meanwhile, the AIADMK government has launched Pongal gift of Rs 2500 cash for each family card scheme.

Palaniswami on Saturday kickstarted his poll
campaign and that of the ruling AIADMK from his hometown of Edappadi constituency in this district.

He hit the campaign trail after offering prayers at the Sendraya Perumal temple in Periyasoragai, Mettur.

This would be the first elections the state would be facing without two tall leaders–former Chief Ministers J Jayalalithaa (AIADMK) and M Karunanidhi (DMK)–who passed away in 2017 and 2018.
