The general council of the ruling AIADMK today resolved to work under V K Sasikala, a close aide of former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa.
It entrusted the post of the general secretary of the party with her until an election is held for the same as per the bylaws of the party.
The party passed a total of 14 resolutions in the presence of chief minister O Paneerselvam and other top leaders that allows Sasikala Natarajan aka Chinnamma to lead the party post Amma’s death and also be the new general secretary of the party for the time being.
Sasikala will be formally elected as the General Secretary as per party by laws only after she comepletes 5 years as a party member.
A resolution to this effect was proposed by 23 leaders, including chief minister O Panneerselvam and deputy speaker of Lok Sabha M. Thambidurai and seconded by the over 2000 general council member.
Other resolutions including requests for Nobel Prize, Raman Magasasay award and Bharat Ratna for Jayalaltihaa, statue for her in Parliament and declaration of her birthday as National Farmers Day.
