After 99 days, Tamil Nadu’s daily Covid-19 count dips below 4,000

Tamil Nadu reported 3,914 new COVID-19 cases, 4,929 recovered cases and 56 deaths on Sunday, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 6,87,400 till date, including 6,37,637 recoveries, 39,121 active cases and 10,642 deaths.

The number of persons testing positive for Covid-19 in Tamil Nadu in a day fell below the 4,000-mark after 99 days on Sunday, with only 3,914 fresh cases being reported. The State also recorded 56 deaths, taking the toll to 10,642.

The number of persons discharged after treatment stood at 4,929 on Sunday, taking the tally of those who have been discharged so far to 6,37,637. The total number of active cases is 39,121. As many as 6,87,400 persons have tested positive for the infection so far.

There were 56 deaths (total 10,642) and 90,286 samples were tested (total 89,46,566) on Sunday. In Chennai, there was an addition of 1,036 cases; 1,359 patients were discharged and 17 deaths reported.

After Chennai, Coimbatore reported the maximum number of cases with 319 followed by Thiruvallur (195); Salem (188); Chengalpattu (174) and Thiruppur (166), according to State health department.

India on Sunday recorded 61,871 new COVID-19 cases and 1033 deaths in 24 hours. Total case tally in the country stands at 74,94,552 including 7,83,311 active cases, 65,97,210 cured/discharged/migrated cases and 1,14,031 deaths, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
