Active cases in TN the lowest among high prevalence States

There seems to be some good news on Covid-19 front in Tamil Nadu. For, officials said active cases in Tamil Nadu was the lowest at 9.4% among high prevalence states.

Statistics show that the active cases rate was the least after Bihar (9.2%) and A&N Islands (7.6%). The recovery rate is high at 89.0%, after A&N Islands (90.0%) and Bihar (90.3%).

Tamil Nadu  has a lower active cases rate compared to 20.6% in the rest of the country India. It and higher recovery rate compared to 77.8% in the country. The death rate in the state, however, was marginally higher
at 1.7% compared to the national average of 1.6%.

Tamil Nadu reported 5,752 fresh COVID cases on Monday, taking the tally to 5,08,511 while the death toll mounted to 8,434 with 53 more fatalities.

Of the fresh infections, Chennai reported 991 and the remainder was spread across Tamil Nadu, a health department bulletin said.

As far as Chennai’s neighbouring districts are concerned, Chengalpattu registered 364 new cases, Kancheepuram saw 167 infections in the last 24 hours, and Thiruvallur posted 294 positive cases.

The districts of Cuddalore and Coimbatore witnessed 296 and 498 new cases, respectively. As many as 53 Covid-19 patients died, taking the total number of fatalities in the State due to the pandemic to 8,434.
