‘Abdi Abdi’ from Jayam Ravi’s Genie creates sizzle in A R Rahman’s Arabic tune
The makers of the upcoming high-budget fantasy film, Genie have dropped the film’s first single, ‘Abdi Abdi,’ instantly making it an online sensation.
The song, composed by the legendary Oscar-winner A. R. Rahman, is a visual and sonic feast, featuring a sizzling dance performance by lead actors Jayam Ravi, Kalyani Priyadarshan, and Krithi Shetty.
The track marks the fourth collaboration between A. R. Rahman and Jayam Ravi, following the monumental success of the Ponniyin Selvan franchise.
The music maestro has delivered a distinctly Middle Eastern-influenced, foot-tapping number that perfectly aligns with the film’s fantasy genre.
Actress Kalyani Priyadarshan, who is basking in the success of her recent film Lokah Chapter 1, took to social media to express her excitement and the hard work that went into the song.
“As an actor, I always try to push and challenge myself to do things I’ve never done before. This song was one of those moments,” she wrote. Praising debutant director Bhuvanesh Arjunan, she added, “I was amazed at how nicely he made such a commercial musical piece into a real and important part of Genie’s story! The reasons behind it are so powerful!”
