Abbas set for Kollywood comeback after 11 years with GV Prakash film

Actor Abbas, a prominent face in Tamil cinema during the late 90s and early 2000s, is making his much-anticipated return to Kollywood after an 11-year hiatus. He was last seen in the 2014 film Ramanujan.

Abbas will be featuring in a pivotal role in an upcoming comedy entertainer starring GV Prakash Kumar and Sri Gouri Priya, known for her role in Lover.

This yet-to-be-titled film marks the directorial debut of Maria Raja Elenchezhian, who previously worked as an assistant to director-actor Pradeep Ranganathan on the blockbuster Love Today and was part of its writing team.

Director Elenchezhian expressed his excitement about casting Abbas, stating, “I specifically wanted an actor with great looks like Abbas sir for this role. When I reached out to him, he was quite impressed with the script and we decided that this should be his comeback film. We have been in talks for the past five to six months.”

Breaking away from typical comeback roles, the director assured that Abbas’s character will not be a cliched villain, a common trope for returning actors. He also revealed that Abbas will be sporting a fresh, new look in the film.

The project is being produced by Beyond Pictures, marking their debut production venture.

The technical crew includes Justin Prabhakaran handling the music, Madhan Christopher as the cinematographer, and Selva RK for editing. Geetha Kailasam and George Maryan are also part of the supporting cast.
