A R Rahman takes Ahimsa route

To mark U2’s first-ever visit to India, Island Records has announced the release of a new track titled ‘Ahimsa’ from U2 and legendary composer A.R. Rahman.

Credited to U2 on digital storefronts the single is now available to stream on JioSaavn. With a library of over 50 million songs and award-winning original content, refreshed frequently, JioSaavn presents wide-ranging audio experiences to its users.

The bringing of the Ahimsa track on JioSaavn echoes the streaming platform’s commitment to present the best and latest world music to fans across India and Indian diaspora.

Music is culture — it’s art and action coming together to shape mindsets, positive change, and ultimately generations. Great music always carries a real message. To make great music, move people, and leave a legacy of hope is a living dream for JioSaavn which it is carrying forward with such unique initiatives.

‘Ahimsa’ – the Sanskrit word for non-violence – celebrates the spiritual diversity of India and connects the ethos of U2 with the mastery of A.R. Rahman. The collaboration comes less than one month ahead of U2’s first-ever show in India with the arrival of The Joshua Tree Tour in Mumbai on 15 December 2019.

The collaboration sees U2 and A.R. Rahman, two of the biggest artists in the world, come together with JioSaavn, the largest music streaming service and development platform for South Asian music and artists, to bring brand new music to fans new and old across India.

2019 will also see the release of four highlights from U2’s extensive catalogue of songs, remixed by local Indian artists and available via JioSaavn and other streaming platforms.
