The ruling AIADMK, headed by chief minister J Jayalalithaa, on Wednesday gathered strength with the inclusion of 91,308 members, including actors Ganja Karuppu and Pasi Sathya besides prominent faces from other parties.
Asserting that scores of people were joining her party impressed by her government’s welfare measures, Jayalalithaa welcomed the nearly one lakh new entrants and exhorted them to work for the party’s victory in coming civic polls.
“There is no party parallel to AIADMK in giving opportunities for dedicated workers at the appropriate time,” she told the new entrants. The party would be a great political training ground for them, she added.
“Scores of people continue to join the AIADMK after seeing and benefiting from the welfare initiatives of the government,” Jayalalithaa said.
“I am living for people and I am here to do a lot of good work in the future. You all should work hard for our party’s victory in the forthcoming local body elections,” she said.
“Those who work for people will achieve heights in public life. There is no parallel for the AIADMK in recognising two workers and providing them with right opportunities at right time. Hence, I wish you all to perform well and get bright future,” she said.
