“7 Star Boys” Movie Review

A Heartwarming Football Story Full of Passion, Dreams and Determination

Football is more than just a game for the boys of this Kerala village—it is a passion, a dream and a way of life. 7 Star Boys beautifully captures that spirit through the journey of seven talented boys under the age of 14 who take part in local football competitions, determined to prove themselves through skill and hard work.

Directed by Nikhil Prem Raj, the film presents an engaging screenplay about dreams, challenges and the determination to overcome obstacles. The story naturally raises an important question: when young talents face difficulties, who stands by them and helps them move forward? The film answers this through its emotional and inspiring characters.

The football sequences are undoubtedly the biggest strength of the movie. With former Indian football coach I.M. Vijayan adding authenticity to the proceedings, the matches create the excitement of watching a real football game. The second half, in particular, maintains a thrilling momentum and keeps the audience emotionally invested in every move.

The young actors deliver impressive performances, with Tanish standing out in the lead role. His portrayal effectively captures the emotions, innocence and determination of a young footballer chasing his dream. Luqman Avaran, Balu Varghese, Amal and the other members of the cast complement the youngsters well.

Antony Varghese brings vibrant energy to the role of a supportive youth who encourages the boys and helps nurture their footballing ambitions. His lively performance adds considerable charm to the film. The brief romantic track also adds warmth, with Jumana Abdur Rahman bringing a pleasant emotional touch.

The technical departments deserve equal appreciation. Jakes Bejoy’s music and Hisham Abdul Wahab’s songs elevate the mood, while the background score intensifies the excitement during the football sequences. Fayez Siddique’s cinematography beautifully captures the village, its greenery, stadium and sporting atmosphere.

Free from unnecessary violence, caste-related themes or excessive commercial distractions, 7 Star Boys remains focused on football, friendship and dreams. It is a refreshing, wholesome and inspiring family entertainer that deserves to be watched and celebrated.
