Four men died when a truck overturned after hitting a two-wheeler and the median on the Bengaluru-Salem National Highway at Thoppur in Dharmapuri district of Tamil Nadu this morning.
The deceased have been identified as truck driver J Selvam, 30, of Sangiliandapuram in Trichy district, cleaner K Thangaraj, 55, of Vazhapadi in Salem district, two-wheeler rider K Chinnavan, 55, of Purikkal in Dharmapuri district and pillion rider M Ariya Goundar, 53, of Purikkal.

A case has been registered against the perpetrator based on a complaint filed by the victim’s father. The boy from Kodarampatty village was made to clear the refuse with his hands.
Taking suo motu cognisance of an incident in which a dalit boy was forced to clean his faeces with his own hands in Dharmapuri, the Tamil Nadu State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has sought a report from the District Collector and the Superintendent of Police within four weeks.

The boy was spotted by the land owner, Rajashekhar, who pulled him up and forced him to clear the faeces with his hands.
