35th mega vaccination drive to be held on 4 September in TN
The 35th mega vaccination drive will be held on September 4, 2022, Health Minister Ma Subramanian said on Friday.
The vaccination drive will be held every Sunday this month.
At least 96.25 per cent of people above the age of 18 years have been vaccinated with the first dose of Covid and 90.15 per cent have received both the doses.
The mega vaccination drive will be conducted at 50,000 locations on Sunday.
“So far, 12.31 crore vaccine doses have been administered in Tamil Nadu. The booster dose vaccination numbers continue to remain low as 41.45 lakh people are due for booster vaccination and only 15 per cent people have been administered with a booster dose. The regular vaccination drive is being held to encourage more people to get vaccinated,” said Ma Subramanian.
The Greater Chennai Corporation is expected to hold vaccination camps at 2,000 locations. Of the 34 mega vaccination camps, 41.90 lakh people have been given vaccines in Chennai. A total of 55.50 lakh first doses and 48.24 lakh second doses of the vaccines have been administered in the city.
A release from the Greater Chennai Corporation stated that currently, 42,70,342 persons are eligible for the booster dose vaccination in Chennai, of which 5.54 lakh people have been vaccinated with precautionary dose.
