2 student groups attack each other with sickles in full public view in Chennai

At least seven people were injured in a fight in broad daylight between two groups of students in Chennai’s Arumbakkam area on Tuesday.

Students of Pachaiyappa’s College were seen attacking another group of students from their college using sickles and the entire incident was caught on camera.

One of the two students– identified as Vasanthakumar — suffered severe injuries and was admitted to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital (KMCH) while the other, who was yet to be identified, ran away.

According to a video which has gone viral, a bus stood on a road and the students ran after each other with long knives in their hands. Then a few students started chasing another student throwing knives at him.

The students then came back to the bus to attack another who was still inside the bus. According to police, the attackers were being identified with the help of CCTV cameras installed in the locality.

Police officials investigating the incident said that the fight broke out between two groups of college students after each wanted to prove they will head the MTC bus route. A bunch of students have been detained and an investigation is on, they added.

Students of Pachaiyappa’s have created controversies in the past as well. In June 2019, students from the college celebrated ‘Bus day’. In a video that went viral on social media, a few students perched atop a bus were seen falling down.
