12 Rajya Sabha MPs suspended for ‘violent behaviour’ on first day on Monsoon Session

The Winter Session of Parliament began on a stormy note on Monday as 12 Rajya Sabha MPs were suspended for rest of the session for their “violent behaviour” during the previous Monsoon Session.

While the Opposition unitedly condemnded the move, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said suspension can be revoked if the MPs apologise to the Rajya Sabha chairman.

Meanwhile, the Farm Laws Repeal Bill was passed by both Houses of Parliament amid loud sloganeering by the Opposition. In Lok Sabha today, the High Court and Supreme Court Judges (Salaries and Conditions of Services) Amendment Bill will be introduced.

The Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Bill will also come up for consideration and passing. In Rajya Sabha, the Dam Safety Bill, 2019, will come up for consideration and passing.
