1.53 lakh apply for voter name inclusion in TN draft list

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Tamil Nadu has informed that around 1.53 lakh people have submitted applications so far to include their names in the draft voter list released after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls.

The draft voter list, published on December 19 followed the completion of the SIR exercise aimed at updating and cleaning up the rolls ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections, a process that saw the removal of more than 97 lakh names due to reasons such as relocation, duplication and death.

During this period, residents whose names were missing or incorrectly omitted from the draft list filed applications using Form 6 and Form 6A to seek inclusion. These submissions are now being reviewed by election officials, who will verify the claims before the final voter list is published.

The CEO’s office said that the window for claims and objections remains open, allowing eligible voters to ensure their names are correctly reflected in the electoral rolls ahead of the upcoming polls.
