New Delhi, Aug 28 The ninth Home Secretary level talks between India and Bangladesh to be held at Dhaka on August 30-31 will focus on security-related issues, border management and cooperation between law enforcement agencies.

The Indian delegation will be headed by Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta and the Bangladesh delegation by their Secretary, Ministry of Home Affair, Mohd Abdul Karim.

The meeting is expected to discuss various security-related issues, including presence of ULFA militants in Bangladesh and Huji and other militant groups indulging in terrorism on the Indian soil.

Border management would focus on illegal migration from Bangladesh to India and those people who have come on legal papers and have not returned. Ways of enhancing cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of both sides would also come up for discussion.

The last Home Secretary meeting was held at Delhi on August 2-3, 2007. These meetings were part of the institutional mechanism set up in 1993 to resolve various issues of mutual concern.

Apart from the Home Secretary level talks, DG level meetings between BSF and BDR were held twice a year. In the run up to the forthcoming Home Secretary level talks, DG level talks between BSF and BDR were held at Dhaka on August 20-25, 2008. After the last Home Secretary level talks, the mechanism of the Joint Working Group at the level of Joint Secretary has been revived. The meeting of this Group was held in New Delhi on May 28-29, 2008.
